Lee Ann
Callahan was taught
a couple chords on her father’s Guild acoustic guitar at a very young
age. Since then she always had an ear and passion for music. Eager to
learn she was quickly picked to enrol in the music program and concert
band in high school.
It
was there that she played clarinet for 5 yrs and competed in local
competitions with her school. It was also those after school rehearsals
that sparked her interest in percussion.
Never given the opportunity to play them at a young age she secretly
aspired to play them one day.
Moving from Newfoundland to Vancouver, she began to rekindle her
interest in playing the drums. Her boyfriend bought her a second hand
set for 50 bucks not thinking that she would be really serious about
them. She taught herself the basic beat and then began to take lessons
from her mentor Steve Lindsay @ Lindsay Music. In 3 short years she
managed to become the backbeat of two bands and travel to venues as far
as Montreal. She also just recently played at the commodore in November.
Lee Ann and her band Phobia will be playing at the Super Cities Walk for MS at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver on April 27 2008. |
