PRESS RELEASE:    FUSIONpresents Emergency Preparedness Song

Friday, May 21, 2010

The City of Port Coquitlam Emergency Program Officer, Cheryl Lalonde, has partnered with FUSIONpresents in the development of a song about Emergency Preparedness for Canadians in times of natural and unnatural disaster. A tentative date of completion is September 5th 2010.  The City of Port Coquitlam will have the right to use the song in media (radio, tv, web) to raise awareness and preparedness for such potential disasters.

The song will revolve around the importance of being prepared and knowing the basics of what to do when disaster strikes - from fires, floods, ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes - all REAL threats to Canadians. The song, however, will use earthquakes as the main example of a potential disaster, as earthquakes have the highest likelihood of occurrence in Canada.

Studies have shown that the general public is very apathetic towards natural disaster and how it could affect them.  As such, the purpose of this song project is to bring awareness and know-how to people and help them protect themselves against these very plausible threats.
