SoulCity, Montreal’s urban talent showcase, was held on Sunday, May 23rd, 2004, at the epic Theatre de Nouveau Monde in downtown Montreal. FUSIONpresents provided Soul City with an original song, entitled Soul City (music by Sule, lyrics by Mo), developed for the event and performed by Dior as the opening song of the evening. DJ Godfather hosted the show, with Lift Book (www.liftbook.com) Editor in Chief, Mulumba Tshikuka, as MC.

Soul City strives to provide aspiring urban Montreal artists with an opportunity to market themselves directly to industry professionals from across North America. Among this year’s special industry guests were AJM Records executives (www.ajmrecords.com), who provided the winners of the showcase with a recording contract. AJM Records has been accredited with launching the career of R&B singer, Ashanti (www.defjam.com/murderinc/ashanti). Other industry professionals included music video directors, record labels representatives, fashion magazine publishers and talent scouts.
